How to import images from a shared Album in Photos

I'm trying to import images from an album that has been shared with me, using I-Cloud. I've done the obvious, selected the images I wanted in the shared album, but there's no intuitive way to add the photos to an existing album in my Photos. There should be an "add to existing album" button. Any advice please?

Have you tried to drag the photo from the Shared album to the album in the sidebar? That should import the photo and additional to the album at the same time. On macOS 10.13 High Sierra the sidebar is always showing, but on Sierra you can reveal it with ⌥⌘S .
