Hearing muffled/strange/quiet speaker sound?
Okay, I know I’m answering my own question, but I’m just putting this out there to try to help anybody else with the same problem. I don’t see why this wouldn’t be useful for any type of phone you have, but just in case this somehow doesn’t work with other models, I have an iPhone SE. This has happened twice now, and is bound to happen again, but it seems that whenever I get some water on my phone’s home button and don’t immediately take care of it, the sound coming out of my speakers becomes much quieter, and is slightly muffled. Luckily, I found a solution to this issue; Firstly, if you get water on your phone at all, you should wipe it off as soon as you can, in order to prevent any issues that may arise from such an event. Next, if you do realize that your sound has been corrupted from water damage of some kind, you need to wipe any remaining water from you phone and remove your phone case, even if there is no water in it. This ensures that the water can be drawn out properly without your case getting in the way. Then, acquire some silica gel packets (recommended) or rice, and seal them, along with your phone, in an air- tight bag (it is essential you do this as soon as you can, so the water doesn’t damage your phone permanently). You may need to leave your phone for a good few hours or even overnight in order for the gel/rice to take effect. If this doesn’t end up working, it’s best to consult an expert who will be able to replace any part of your phone that may have been damaged. (My best bet is going to a store that specializes in phone repair instead of the Apple store, since they usually would urge you to buy a new phone rather than fix your old one). If you somehow don’t have access to one of these repair shops, you must do a lot (and I mean A LOT) of research before trying to bust open you phone to fix the problem on your own. Hope you find this helpful!
