Calendar/Mail keeps sending updates every 2-3 seconds

When I create a new event in the Mac Calendar and add an invitee/s, the people that I add are bombarded with event updates every 3 seconds. I see that in the sent items in the Mail app - an email every 2-3 seconds.

This means I can't create events! The people I invite are "spammed" by hundreds of email updates.

Needless to say, I made no changes to the event.

When I close the Mail app, those emails stop coming but as soon as I open the Mail app, the sending begins again. The only way to stop is delete the event or delete the invitees from the event.

The account is a Gmail account. If I create the event in the Gmail web interface, all is good.

Anyone?

Hello, Fuchsteufelswild.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

It's my understanding that your Mail app is sending out lots of emails to those invited to your calendar event. Narrowing it down is a good troubleshooting step and I may be able to help you with this. Let's go a bit further. I would first test to see if you're able set up an event with one contact and invite them to the event. Then check to see if the issue persists with that one contact? Also, are you using a pre-existing group to send the invites out to? Do you have multiple calendars? It's possible that the events could be happening in multiple calendars.

Try seeing if this occurs with a test user account: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!
