Upgrading Snow Leopard

I have a mid 2010 iMac. When I erased the hard drive I had to reinstall the software that came with it. This took me back to v10.6.4. I have been struggling since to upgrade back to a higher version. Can anyone help me out? I’d like to get back to High Sierra.

First go to the  menu and select "Software Update". Install all available updates, then restart your computer. Then download El Capitan here. Then you're ready to get High Sierra, click on this link. Download and install macOS high Sierra.

Details on installing High Sierra here.
