CarPlay not working

I have an iPhone 7 Plus and since I updated to iOS 11.2.2 CarPlay in my 2017 Chevy Trax has just stopped working. I plug in the USB and my phone will charge and play music but when I try to project I get an error saying I need to plug a device into a USB. I’ve tried using different USB cords, different USB ports, and resyncing my phone...nothing works! Have others had this issue? How do I fix this?

I had a similar issue. CarPlay worked fine for months on my 2017 VW Alltracks, then stopped. I'd plug iPhone 7 into USB, see "connecting USB device" but never go the CarPlay screen. It would charge, play music (bluetooth or USB), just no CarPlay menu. Tried rebooting car radio, iPhone, replaced cable, same. Took car in for 10k service, tech plugged in his iPhone, worked fine. We were both running IoS 11.2.5. I tried forgetting my car in the CarPlay menu on the phone, no luck. What got it working: With iPhone connected, went into the car menu and chose the CarPlay app, it immediately popped a balloon on my iPhone asking to Allow CarPlay.

Hi there, skrude10!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having issues with your iPhone not working properly with your car stereo and I am more than happy to help out! You’ve tried excellent steps using different cords, ports, and syncing to the stereo again. It would be best at this point to go to this link: Contact Support . This will get you in touch with Apple and they will be happy to proceed with further steps.

Have a great day!

I've seen multiple posts about problems with CarPlay not working. In my case it was with my iPhone 8Plus and a brand new Honda CRV EXL.

I tried everything I read online about how to fix and nothing worked. I showed all the posted comments and recommendations to a Honda employee - and he did something no one else had mentioned and it worked. SO.......

Go to your settings, General, Restrictions and select "Disable Restrictions" (it's important that you select the Disable Restrictions button at the top, not just the listed CarPlay app). Then connect your phone -- . In my case, it immediately recognized the phone and started CarPlay. I then disconnected the phone, went back to settings and enabled the restrictions, reconnected the phone and boom, it again recognized and started CarPlay. I haven't had a problem since.

I hope it works for you!
