i cannot do a conference or merge calls after updating to ios 11

after updating my phone to ios 11 i cannot use the add call feature when i want to make a conference call. Even when i am already on a call and i get another call which i want to merge but the option of merging is not available. This was not the problem when i had bought the phone and it had ios 10
