A friend downloaded Any Video Converter onto my iMac 2011 recently. I'm inclined to delete it, but wondered if it could be useful and safe? A perfunctory search didn't yield any red flags. Does anyone have an informed opinion re Any Video Converter?

Google it. Older versions, ie 0.9.x are fine too.
Best tip, start with a low-end preset - I use Apple TV Legacy and change the video bit rate to 900. Then come back and increase it if you're not happy with the results
