11.03 has broken access to my microphone

I just updated to high sierra 10.13.3 which came with safari 11.03. Access to my microphone stopped working. Works fine in other apps and chrome.

Any idea?

None of these steps fixed the issue. I have isolated the problem to it booting the system with a display link docking station attached. If it boots without it attached, then you can attach it later and it works. If you boot it with the docking station attached everything works fine but safari. I have updated to the latest display link drivers. This all worked fine prior to the latest 10.13 update.

Hi kennethfromchatham,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand that since updating to macOS High Sierra you're seeing that Safari no longer has access to the microphone on your Mac but other apps and browsers are able to access it with no problem. I know it's important for Safari to have access to your microphone and I'd like to help. I'd recommend using the steps here to start your Mac in safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

In safe mode, open Safari and test for the behavior you mention.
If you're still having trouble use these steps to reset the NVRAM on your Mac and test again: How to reset NVRAM on your Mac

Should the issue continue further, this guide will help you to test for this issue in a new user on your Mac: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac
Let me know what you find.

Best Regards.

Hi kennethfromchatham,

Thanks for taking the time to try those steps and for providing those additional details. Next I'd recommend using these steps to reset the System Management Controller on your Mac:

How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac

Test for the behavior again and let me know what you find.

Could you let me know if you saw the same issue occur in Safari when you tested with a new user as was previously suggested to help us isolate the issue?

Best Regards.
