iTunes won't let me load album artwork
iTunes won't let me load album artwork: Answer to .JPG file issues.
I'm re-posting this question because what I've discovered in migrating from my PC is that iTunes on a MacBook will not display album artwork which I've created or loaded with a .JPG extension. To correct this problem I had to change the extension to .JPEG. Below you'll find the steps necessary to change the .JPG extension of existing artwork on your MacBook's hard drive and the steps necessary to load it into iTunes.
To change the extension of a file on your hard drive:
1. Open Finder and select the artwork you desire
2. Right Click the file (two finger tap in my configuration), select Get Info, select the carrot to expand Name & Extension, and (optional) uncheck Hide Extension
3. If the file ends in .JPG simply change it to .JPEG
4. Press return on your keyboard and close the info window
Load artwork into iTunes:
1. Open iTunes, select Albums, right click the album you want to add artwork too, then select Album Info
2. If "Are you sure you want to edit information for multiple items?" displays then select Edit Items
3. Select Artwork at the top. Then select Add Artwork at the bottom
4. Locate and select the file you just converted to a .JPEG extension
5. Select Open
6. Select OK
7. Your jpeg album artwork should now display properly
The previous assumes you have given permissions to read and write files brought over from your PC. If you haven't then please see ozarkmountnhomegrown response to LexiCullen101 under Q: iTunes won't let me add album artwork.
