Security update 2018-001 causes shutdowns

After downloading security update 10.11.6 I now get a message saying there is a problem and shuts down, this is only 65 seconds after starting up.

I have a Mac Book Pro (15 inch late 2011) OS X El Capitan 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory 4GB 1333 HHz DDR3 Intel HD Graphics 30000 384 MB

I have had no problems with any other updates, 65 seconds does not give me time to do a scan to see what the problem is, I left it shut down overnight but am still having the same problem

MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2011), iOS 11.0.3

Hi Trish , I had the same shutdown problem after loading update 2018.001 - I had to uninstall ESET security to solve that problem however I then found that my MBpro 13" with 4MB memory ran very slowly whereas I had managed to function on 4MB memory before. Have now upgraded to 8MB memory & MBpro running great again. Seems something in 2018.001 uses more memory to run than previous OS.
