CarPlay problems Audi Q7

I have a 2017 Audi Q7. iPhone 6s/IOS 11.2.5. Since IOS 11 I have had problems. Via cable, CarPlay connects without a problem. When the MMI screen changes display, ie goes to back up mirror with reverse or front bumper ultrasound with parking- the iPhone continues to function (continues playing Audible book).

Problem- When driving is continued, the MMI screen comes up with the CarPlay option highlighted. Nothing happens when clicking/selecting 'CarPlay'- frozen. The CarPlay menu cannot be accessed. Very annoying.

Workaround- 1) unplug iPhone and re-plug or 2) in the menu, return to Connection Manager and deselect the iPhone and re-select.

The problem can be avoided if I remember to select 'Menu' before any process that will activate a change in the MMI screen.

I have taken the car to Audi and they confirmed the problem (occurs with my wife's iPhone and the technician's iPhone). The dealer contacted Audi and confirmed that others are having problems and Audi is working with Apple.

Does anyone know when this will be fixed?

Audi (and Apple) should stop advertising that Apple CarPlay is supported until resolved.
