How To Get Voicemail Full Warning

Voicemail is a carrier feature. Apple has nothing to do with the determination that your voicemail mailbox is full. Check with your carrier to see if they have any type of notification setup. Your voicemail mailbox size and capacity is all dependent on your carrier, as it all resides on their server.

While the voicemail may be saved to the phone after it has been downloaded from the carrier. The message that voicemail is full when someone calls has nothing to do with the phone, that has to do with the ability of the individual's voicemail box to accept any additional messages, and that restriction is carrier based. Your carrier provides you with a limited amount of space on their server. For example, if you have your phone off, and have not downloaded any voicemail, if people are leaving you voicemail, you will only be able to get a limited amount of voicemail until your box is full. Since you would not be downloading voicemail to the phone, it has no affect on it. Your voicemail box being full and the inability for a caller to leave you a message is strictly the carrier.

That is not actually true. I've learned that each iPhone stores the voicemails within the phone as part of its storage. Apparently, depending on available space, each iPhone can store up to 40 messages regardless of length. Each message can only go up to 3 minutes as well.

*** Apple, why are we being limited to only storing 40 messages? It's like the old days when you could only have 30 Texts with a Nokia phone.
