Iphone 7 overheating while video call and battery drain

Hello all,

I have iphone 7 which i bought it 3 months ago nearly. I am doing video call frequently all day at leat one video call a day over the Whatsapp. While making that video call i am using cellulardata 3g. After 10 or less minutes later on my iphone is heating up amazingly even you can not touch the back of phone. Then i have to stop the call until my phone is getting cold again. Now i am using ios11.2.0 version. Also that heat issue causing battery drain. I am thinking my phone hardware has a problem or do you have any idea for this issue ?any suggestion will be welcome . The other question is can i change my iphone directly from apple store if nobody cannot find a solution for that issue ??

By the way i read so many article on the interner about how to cool down iphone and how to avoid overheating iphone but nothing works for my situation. I have tried to find a app for diagnos to current hw temperature there is no app like cpuz or hwmonitor in apple. Thats why i am not able attach picture.

Thanks for your reply.

Making a video call on cellular data is going to cause the phone to heat up, and it will also consume a great deal of battery, causing a drain as you refer to it. Video calls require a great deal of processor power, which is what causes the heat in the case you are speaking about. And, using cellular data can fluctuate and as the cellular signal degrades, the phone uses more processor and more battery to try and maintain a solid signal.

You can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple store to have the device examined, however I believe you will find there is nothing wrong with your phone. It is how you use the phone that is causing the issue you describe.

You did not indicate that you were using FaceTime, you said that you were using WhatsApp. The fact is, the device will heat up. Mine does when I make a FaceTime call, even on my home wi-fi. I explained the reason for that. I also explained that if you feel you have a hardware problem you have the option to make a Genius Bar appointment. From your statements, it doesn't seem to matter what anyone says, you feel that since your Android phone worked better, you deserve more. So take your phone to the Genius Bar and explain to them that you wish it worked like an Android.

Hello thanks for your reply Chris. You are right while using cellular data make a video call will cause use so much resource but at this point apple is offering facetime video call. And as you can understand nobody can not get connected to wifi every moment. From my point of view if apple provide that kind of feature itself as default on their phone they must be handled this issue before am i right ? they hardware must support it at least 5 min or more because my phone is heating up may be in 5 min maybe less really i did not care it yet but i will evaluate it. I was using android before and i had no any problem with video call even the brand not provide a video call feature itself as default feature. As i understood there is a problem with iphone hardware this must not be reason. Yes it can be but it must be when make video call 30 min or more at least. this is totally my idea but i believe that apple has a problem with the hardware also the software then ???
