Group Texting issues

I have received texts the last couple days and they appear to be from one person initially, then after read it I notice there is another person on the text string but I can't see them. This has never happened before. I sent my friend and another person who has an iPhone a text while sitting next to them, and each of them received the text but it was only from me. They did not see one another on the group text although they were both on the group text I sent.

You may simply have to reactivate iMessage and FaceTime, but steps below and within the links may assist prior to resetting:

1) It appears your group messages are going through as SMS vs MMS. Check your settings in Messages. Correct as needed. (Settings - Messages - )

See explanation below and additional information that may help:

If no info or steps herein assist, contact your carrier. It could be a server issue, for example or they may simply need to reset an option, etc....

If you have issues with a group message

If you’re in a group message and stop receiving messages, check if you left the conversation. Open Messages and tap the group message. If you see the message You left the conversation, then either you left the conversation or you were removed from the group message. You can rejoin a group message only if someone in the group adds you.

You can also start a new group message. Here’s how:

  1. Open Messages and tap User uploaded file.
  2. Enter the phone numbers or email addresses of your contacts.
  3. Write a new message, then tap User uploaded file to send.

If you have other issues with a group message, you might need to delete the conversation and start a new one. To delete a group message:

  1. Open Messages and find the conversation that you want to delete.
  2. Swipe left over the conversation.
  3. Tap Delete.

When you delete a message, you can't recover it. If you want to save parts of a message, take a screenshot. To save an attachment in a message, touch and hold the attachment, tap More, then tap Save.

Yes my phone is set on iMessage. and the other people's phone were also on message. Taking a screen shot would not help because you will see the group text I sent, but what you will not see is, that they get the message but for them it appears to be only to them. I have received a couple messages from friends that were said to be " group " SMS texts. When I receive the texts I will get both of their "individual" texts but its not in the group format.

You don't have MMS turned on under iMessage, so you don't have group messaging on for this feature, and check your Send and Receive options to make sure those are correct.
