Is it safe to install Security Update 2018-001 El Capitan on Mac Mini and MacBook Pro

Is the Security Update 2018-001 El Capitan safe to install? My Mac Mini (early 2009; Processor: 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3; El Capitan, version 10.11.6) crashed when installing Security Update 2018-001 El Capitan yesterday. Disk Utility was no help an essentially said "too bad." I was able to rebuild using Disk Warrior.
My question is:

Is the Security update safe to install?

I have another computer waiting for the same Security Update - it is a MacBook Pro that is also running El Capitan, version 10.11.6.

I don't want to go through that scenario again.

There have been no reported defects in the update itself.

Whenever users install an update, some will disturb lurking unresolved problems and have issues. That is what backups are for.

Conflicts with third-party so-called anti-Virus software are likely. You could install in Safe mode if you are worried about conflicts.
