Hi - I thought I was buying an iPad Pro for my art-loving daughter, but shopped around and must have erred. We just received and the box doesn’t say Pro - it says MP2F2LL/A iPad Wi-Fi 32GB.
Is this compatible with the Apple Pencil, or do we need to take it back and try again? Thanks!!
That model of iPad is not compatible with the Apple Pencil no.
For ease of identification, the only 2 iPads compatible with the Apple Pencil, are the 10.5" and 12.9" iPad Pros.
The one you have is a 9.7" regular iPad.

Apple Pencil is only compatible with the much more expensive iPad Pro models.
Those are the 10.5 and 12.9 inch screen models.
You purchased the much less expensive 9.7 inch screen 2017 iPad 5th generation.
That model iPad does NOT work with the Apple Pencil, BUT will work with other third party smart, Bluetooth stylii.
The iPad Pro models are much more expensive than the iPad 5th gen.
