stop using Icloud-whatsapp backup and start backing up in itunes

It seems i got in a loop with whatsapp and backing up to icloud.

I don't want to be forced with my Iphone 7+ to buy more data space on Icloud, so now im backing up via Itunes and downgraded my account to the lousy 5GB.

Still im running low in space because of Whatsapp, currently 1.3 gb of data, now if i want to remove the back up

settings-Icloud-manage storage-Whatsapp-delete data

i get the warning all data is going to be removed from ICloud and my phone!

So that means if i do so i have to get my data back of have to a complete restore of my Iphone with Itunes?

I am not even sure if the back up is inside the Itunes back up, so anyone knowing what to do?

Looks like i i am locked and forced to buy more space and keep using Icloud.

Not happy about it so any help would be nice of fixing this

Go to Settings, click on your name at the top, click iCloud, scroll down to WhatsApp and deselect it. This will stop it from using iCloud Drive, which is what facilitates WhatsApp itself to backup the data. It may not be instant, but the data should be deleted without the actual data in the app being affected.

thanks for the tip, I missed that option so now it's switched off but in the WhatsApp app there is a notification that is not set up for back ups (I used iTunes now instead) so I back up in there

but WhatsApp still occupies 1.3gb of the free 5 gb iCloud space, I just don't get it that if I remove that back up from iCloud it warns you its going to be removed from you device as well... just doesn't make sense
