My Canon scanner (CanoScan 8800f) is evidently not compatible with my iMac now that I upgraded to 10.13. In searching for a new scanner, I can't seem to find ANY flatbed scanner as of this date compatible with High Sierra. How is this the case? Any leads?

If you open up System Information (do an "About this Mac" then select "System Report" and the in the USB section of the "System Information" window, does it see the Canon 8800F connected to one of the USB ports/hubs? Maybe post a screenshot of it like this (make sure to expand all the diamonds so that the entire USB tree is visible):

Try CountryGirl's suggestion regarding VueScan. I use it for my Canon 8600f scanner. Just be sure the scanner is turned on before launching VueScan.
If it doesn't work with the scanner try the 32 bit version. That's what my 8600f model requires.
If you run Image Capture does it see the scanner listed as a device? Since it's a normal USB device, you may not need any special drivers just to do routine stuff on the 8800f. I have an HP2510 and it works fine on High Sierra.

I appreciate your interest and help. The scanner is "there" but that's as far as I can go. The Navigator software to run it isn't compatible with High Sierra.
No luck with Image Capture and no downloadable drivers available. :-(
