I don't believe you can open a .pif file.

From Webopedioa.com:
Short for Program InFormation file, a type of file that holds information about how Windows should run a non-Windows application. For example, a PIF file can contain instructions for executing a DOS application in the Windows environment. These instructions can include the amount of memory to use, the path to the executable file, and what type of window to use. PIF files have a .pif extension .

Hi robert,

Page Information FIle is correct. It's the Windows version of an Apple script file. They can be used to run any DOS or Windows function.

When it's in an email, it's not there's just a chance that the file is for evil purposes, it's a 100% guarantee. There's no reason for anyone to ever email a .pif file except to create havoc. Not that they don't have legitimate uses, but I've never seen or heard of a non destructive one in an email. The good news for you is that they are completely benign on a Mac.

Ignore and delete it.
