All .jar files are defaulted to open with Archive Utility

I'm uncertain when Archive Utility became the default program to open .jar files but I can't seem to change this. The Java Launcher doesn't exist anymore apparently, and when I looked for the path to whatever is supposed to open the files, the folder's empty. By empty I mean, not even hidden files. I've even updated Java and still can't figure this out.

You have shown your local Library contents in your home directory which would not have a CoreServices folder. The Jar Launcher is in /System/Library/CoreServices.

Click once on your Desktop to switch to Finder. Press shift+command+G to pop open the Go to Folder panel, and copy/paste the following:

/System/Library/CoreServices

This is just a look visit, and do not change anything. Jar Launcher should be in CoreServices.

Archive Utility should not be the default Open with application, unless something has removed the default /System/Library/CoreServices/Jar Launcher that Apple bundles with the operating system (including High Sierra). Apple uses the .jar archive format to aggregate some Java classes in operating system.

The default Open With application for the above .jar files is Apple's Jar Launcher, and secondary on that list is the Archive Utility, because the .jar mime type is application/zip.

If you do not have a Jar Launcher in the above location, then something has erroneously removed it.
