MacBook Failed to Connect to iCloud Drive

I just purchased a MacBook Pro. After setting up I found out that the iCloud Drive is not working at all. It looks as if it’s working but in actuality it does not sync at all.

Before buying this machin I already own an iPhone and iMac, both of which are working fine and syncing real-time. The new Pro seems like it’s in an alternative universe.

I’ve gone through forums and official website and tried: restart the Mac, log out of iCloud and log in again, create new user account; to no avail.

I’ve also checked if the date/time in both macs are different but turned out the same.

Other iCloud-enabled apps (e.g., note, calendar) are working normally; it seems like only the Drive is having problems.

Since the MacBook is brand new, I decided to erase the drive and reinstall macOS. This step consumes little time for new computers.

After the set-ups and sign-ins, I simply left it plugged the whole night without touching it. And this morning everything is synced and ready.

It could be because of unstable internet connection in the first place causing a cloud hailing error. I would suggest anyone buying a new Mac that leave it on for a few hours for iCloud to finish setting up.

That doesn’t work. After I ticked back the “sync” box, the local iCloud Drive window just created two new folders—desktop and document. And nothing else happened after that.

Like I mentioned in the original post, this Mac seems as if it’s in an alternative universe and thought it’s connected.
