Apple watch no longer shows local temperature.

After upgrading my Apple watch to 4.2.2(15S542) it no longer shows me the current temperature. Has anyone else experienced this? I still get the current temperature on my iPhone 6+ but nothing I can do will bring back the local temperature that I enjoyed more than any other feature on my Apple watch face.

Hi

The following steps may help, having resolved issues with the Weather app and Weather complication for other users.

If you have not yet done so, update your iPhone and Apple Watch to the latest compatible software versions, starting with your iPhone:

On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Weather > Default City > choose Current Location (or a specific location from those that have been added to the Weather app on your iPhone, if preferred).

On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Privacy > Location Services:

  • Check that Location Services is enabled.
    • If the setting is already turned on, try turning it off, pausing for a few moments and then re-enabling it.
  • Check that Apple Watch Faces is set to While Using.
    • Toggling the setting to Never and back again may help.
  • Check that Weather is set to Always
    • Toggling the setting may help.
  • At the bottom, tap on System Services > check that Setting Time Zone is enabled (you may also wish to enable all other system services, if they are not presently enabled).

  • Check that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both enabled on your iPhone:

    • iPhone: Settings > Bluetooth - on.
    • iPhone: Settings > Wi-Fi - on.
    • For the best performance from your watch, keep both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi permanently enabled on your iPhone.

On your iPhone, go to: Settings > General > Background App Refresh:

    • Check that Background App Refresh is enabled.
    • It may also help to enable the setting for Weather.

On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Complications:

Restart (normally) both your iPhone and your Apple Watch, turning both devices off together, then restarting your iPhone first:

If the issue persists, then - having followed the previous steps - it may next help to unpair and re-pair your Apple Watch again:

If the issue persists, then I suggest that you contact Apple Support (remote diagnostics and/or mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance:

Jonathan, well taking this final step of unpairing then pairing with a restore of my backup, did the trick. I now have my temperature back on my Apple Watch face. Seemed like a long way around but thankful it worked. Thanks for your persistence in staying with me to the bitter end on this one! Now if I just knew how I lost my connection, I could avoid doing it in the future, but at least you've given me a path to restoration. Thanks again! Steve

Jonathan, I have tried everything on your list but still can't get a temperature to show up on my watch face. It shows that it's connected via blue tooth to my phione6+ but when I ask it to update the software in the "My Watch" section, it spins and spins and finally says "cannot connect to your watch." The bluetooth is connected but it can't talk to my watch..what's with that. That could be my problem with the temperature.

JK, I have the green phone outline on my watch, but when I ask the iphoneto check for an Apple Watch update, it spins and spins and then errors out saying "Could Not Connect to Apple Watch." It then tells me things to check and I obviously have done that. Is there error because there is no watch update available? I would think it would just say that if that were the case. BTW, what is the purple arrow directly across from the green phone outline?
