Time Machine not working anymore (on Synology drive)

My Time Machine backup is not working anymore (on Synology drive DS116) . I think this happened after an automatic update from my MacOs to 10.13.3. At least I did not change anything on the Synology drive.

Time Machine backup is supposed to run over SMB (SMB bonjour on Synology is activated, as is SMB3 and Time Machine folder set).

I can discover and select the Time Machine disk, but I get the following error:

"The network backup disk could not be accessed because there was a problem with the network username or password. You may need to re-select the backup disk and enter the correct username and password."

I have done everything around the username and password (added new user, changed old, deleted entry from Keychain etc.) on both Mac and Synology, but to no avail at all.

Any suggestions or similar issues?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)
