How to clear imessage image history

Someone texted an image I do not like, so I deleted it from the text string on my iPhone. The offensive photo still shows up when I tap the little "i" information button next to the sender's name in iMessage. How do I get rid of this stupid image?!?!?! It no longer shows in the text, but it lives on forever in this dumb image / attachment history. ☹

Hello KimeeeLL,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. I understand you've had some trouble deleting an unwanted image from your iMessages, and I have some information that may help.

Have a look at the excerpt from the article below for some helpful troubleshooting steps.

Use Messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Find attachments from a conversation

Open the conversation and tap User uploaded file in the upper-right corner. You'll see sections for Images and Attachments. Tap an image or attachment to open it. You can also touch and hold the image or attachment to show options like Copy, Delete, and More.

If you run into any trouble, please reach out again.
Best Regards.

Thank you!! I "selected" the images to delete, then tapped the trash can icon at the bottom.

Originally I was expecting a process similar to the iMessage image delete...where a menu of choices pops up when you tap and hold a particular pic.

However, deleting from the sender's image history appears to be more like the process of managing images in the "photos" application.

Thanks again for the assist. :-)
