Canopus ADVC110 to USB Mac Pro2013 not recognized

I have a Canopus ADVC 110 that I used with previous Macs. I have tried Analog cassette to the Canopus digital converter to RCA Jacks output to USB but the USB is NOT recognized by the Mac in High Sierra. My logitech usb mic works just fine. I've tried rebooting and resetting PRAM but the Mac does not recognize incoming audio from it. I’m not even sure it sees the usb connection. I have this USB codec as an option in my sound inputs, but sound is not recognized.

I also tried Firewire 400 to 800 to Thunderbolt dock (OWC) to Thunderbolt on the Mac. While the ADVC is visible to the system profile as connected, I can't get the Mac/ Audacity or Garageband to recognize incoming audio.

I know there is an 800 FW to thunderbolt adaptor, but at this point I'm wondering if even that will work...

Any ideas? Suggestions? Audacity has some suggestions about unplugging all usb devices and then rebooting, but heck, my keyboard is connected via usb... I wouldn't be able to control the mac....

TIA,

Jeff

The Canopus ADVC110 requires a Firewire connection to your Mac - see page 8 of the manual.
