Calendar Freezes in Location Entry
Calendar freezes when entering a new calendar item at Location.
No fixes found.
Backup and restore seems extreme.
If file is corrupted then a more direct fix should be availalble.

If you still have issues, what steps have you tried already that did not work for you? This can help me provide a more appropriate option to troubleshoot this.Remove a built-in app from your Home screen
- On your iOS device, touch and hold the app lightly until it jiggles. If the app doesn't jiggle, make sure that you're not pressing too hard.
- Tap on the app, then tap Remove.
- Press the Home button to finish.
If you have an Apple Watch, removing an app from your iPhone also removes that app from your Apple Watch.
Restore a built-in app that you removed
- On your iOS device, go to the App Store.
- Search for the app. Make sure that you use the exact name of the app. Find the correct name of built-in apps.
- Tap to restore the app.
- Wait for the app to restore, then open it from your Home screen.
If you have an Apple Watch, restoring an app to your iPhone also restores that app to your Apple Watch.
Hey fred03,
Thanks for trying that. What I'd suggest next is to reinstall the iOS using the info in the link at the bottom. This process is not necessarily a restore as you'll use iTunes and it will attempt to reinstall your software without removing your personal data. However, be sure to backup your device first as explained in the link below.
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Once backed up, you can continue with these steps here.
Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again
- Make sure that you're using the latest version of iTunes.
- If iTunes is already open, close it. Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes. If you don't have a computer, borrow one from a friend or go to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.
- While your device is connected, force restart it with these steps, but don't release the buttons when you see the Apple logo, wait until the connect to iTunes screen appears:
- On an iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the connect to iTunes screen.
- On an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus: Press and hold the Side and Volume Down buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see connect to iTunes screen.
- On an iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad, or iPod touch: Press and hold both the Home and the Top (or Side) buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the connect to iTunes screen.
- When you see the option to Restore or Update, choose Update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data. Wait while iTunes downloads the software for your device. If the download takes more than 15 minutes and your device exits the connect to iTunes screen, let the download finish, then repeat step 3.
If you can‘t update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Take care
I backed up the phone on iCloud and the removed the Calendar app.
However, when the calendar app is removed, a message appears that says "the data won't be removed".
And, it appears that it wasn't.
So when the Calendar was reinstalled, the data showed up right away.
The problem has not gone away. 😟
Agreed! I face this problem each and every time I try to put in a location. After putting in the first letter it freezes. I've just started avoiding using locations. Which really really *****. Elementary problem that Apple should have fixed a while ago.
So it appears that presently Apple have not fixed this simple problem. Does anyone know why it happens? Is the app going thru all of the recorded locations, causing it to hang up? Can that feature be disabled somehow? It’s very frustra
I just installed the new IS 12.2.6 & the problem remains. Help desk had no clue yesterday & acted like this was something new
This problem has been around for a longggggg time and wonder why a simple solution from Apple is not available.
Moon, when I remove the Calendar app, and then reinstall it will it keep all my appointments for the next 4 years on it?
Thank you!
