CarPlay works intermittently in our 2017 VW Golf Alltrack SEL with my iPhone 8+ running iOS 11.2.5 with an approved data/charging cable, but my husband's iPhone works just fine. I have restarted the phone and done various troubleshooting steps to fix but to no avail.

If you're using USB Playback
- Restart your iOS device and your car.
- Connect your iOS device to a different stereo USB port (if you have one).
- Try a different Lightning to USB cable.
- Update your iOS device.
- Install any firmware updates for your car stereo.
If your car supports wireless CarPlay, press and hold the Voice Control button on your steering wheel to set up CarPlay. Or make sure that your car is in wireless or Bluetooth pairing mode. Then on your iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay > Available Cars and select your car. See the owner's guide for your car for more information.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, I have already tried all these fixes and troubleshooting steps. I have used several different Apple and non-Apple lightning cables (all with the same results), and both our phones have been restarted numerous times and always updated with the latest iOS updates when they become available. Frustrating.
Thanks Joseph. Bluetooth works with the car's (non-CarPlay-related) stereo but this model does not feature wireless CarPlay.
