Is Osx mountain lion still supported?

Osx Mountain Lion Is the best performing on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)

2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 and

16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Startup Disk = 2TBSSHD

My question is, what support still exist for this very fast OS?

The most fundamental problem with MacOS older than 10.9 is that the version of ANY Browser supported is simply too old to be useful. It cannot accomplish today's secure connections, and any web site that is paying attention is requiring a secure connection.

The next most difficult problem is that Security Updates are not currently being provided for MacOS older than 10.11 ElCapitan, and the potential bugs recently revealed in the press are cause for caution. There have not, at this writing, been any actual exploits using them.

At this point in time, any Mac not running 10.11 ElCapitan or later should not be in constant connection to the Internet.
