Hi alex_h1,

I went into settings/notifications/calendar & turned off all the badge app icons. When i went directly to the calendar app there was no way to turn off notifications. Also, i couldn't find was how to clear these notifications with the calendar open. Is this not possible ?? Is this new with ios 11 ?? This is because i never saw this type of icon before In calendar. it had appeared by settings when there was a software update but never in the calendar.

Anyway, the annoying badge app icon is no longer showing by my calendar.

many thanks & happy weekend,

Hi there, Sjjb-scuba!

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities about Notifications settings on your iPad. Specifically, you'd like to remove the red circle with numbers in it. I'm happy to help!

The red circle with a number inside is called a Badge App Icon. This feature of Notifications alerts you to the number of unread messages or alerts in a specific app. For example, if you have a Badge App Icon on the Messages app that says 2, it means you have 2 new, unread Messages. This feature is option, and can be resolved one of two ways:

First, you can address the unread message/alert within the app that has the Badge App Icon on it. Or, for a more permanent solution, you can turn it off under Settings > Notifications > [selected app] > Badge App Icon. Since this feature is app-specific, you could choose to leave it on for some apps that you would perhaps want to receive a numbered alert (like a missed call or voicemail for the Phone app), and turn it off for others (such as for the software updates in Settings).

More information on using Notifications can be found here: Use notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support .

Have a great day!
