HomePod says to connect to same network as iOS devi e to send text but it is?

Just got the new HomePod and set it up with my fiancé’s phone because she has Apple Music. Everything went through fine on the setup and is working without issue except when she asks Siri to send text. Siri replies with you need to connect the HomePod to the same network as the iOS device you set it up with, but it is. We have one network at home her phone was connected to that network at setup and hasn’t changed to a different one since but HomePod keeps saying it’s not on the same network as her phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello!!!

  • The first step you could try is to head over to the "Home" App on your fiancé’s phone
  • click on the "arrow" at the top left side on the app
  • if you look at the "People" section you will see her icon click on it
  • now you will see a section called "Siri on HomePod" with a "Personal Request" toggle button, turn it on and on then try sending a text.

If this dose not work try unplugging the HomePod and turn off the phone wait 30 seconds then plug the HomePod back in and turn on the phone and see if this works now.

(If this dose not work try using Siri on the phone to see if its a issue on the phones end.)

If all else is not working maybe try resetting the HomePod might be needed.

  • On your iOS device, open the Home app.
  • In the Home or Rooms tab, press and hold HomePod, then tap Details.
  • Scroll to the bottom and tap Remove Accessory.

I tried all of these recommended fixes and none of them worked. The only thing that worked was updating my iPhone's software to iOS 11.2.6, which I had been putting off, since the upgrades of late seem to cause as many problems as they fix. It was recommended for various fixes, including one that allowed "third party" apps to connect to devices. It seems that it also allowed Apple to connect its own devices to each other. In any event, it seems to work for now. However, with my iPhone X, I am afraid I am in for a lot of other nasty side effects from the upgrade according to Forbes. 😟
