texting to a 5 digit number on my iPhone 6s? Keeps adding punctuation and won’t send!
How do I prevent punctuation from being inserted in a 5-digit text? It won’t go through unless I delete the punctuation. I have an iPhone 6s Plus.

Try creating a contact in the Contacts app with that phone number in it (no punctuation, of course), and send your message to that contact. Let me know if that works!
jackiefromRocklin,
Yeah, it always adds the punctuation, but that should be OK and it still should send OK.
Go to Settings > Messages. Is "Send as SMS" turned on? If not, turn it on and try again.
Good luck.
Hi Jackie,
I'm not sure that I quite understand your issue. Is there any way that you could share with us a different text message (something random) that is in the same format as the real message so that we could see what kind of message you are referring to?
Hoping that we can help,
zfJames
Example:
Trying to send to: 76543 and it posts as 765-43. Text message doesn’t go through with any punctuation in it.
punctuation is automatically added when I type in numerical sequence
“Send as SMS“ is turned on, but still will not send message with a hyphen between numbers. Asks me to resend without spaces or punctuation, which I’m unable to do.
