Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.2: Edit button missing from options bar in top right of Photos. Line of little photo thumbnails missing from bottom of Photos window with album open. Tried to adjust screen size/full screen etc to no avail.

And are you viewing a single photo enlarged, after double clicking the thumbnail? It does not suffice to open an album, you have to select one of the photo thumbnails and click it to view it enlarged.
The edit button only appears when you have a single photo showing in your window.
Sorry, it's an I-Mac not Mac-Pro (hit wrong option).
