The tools are easy enough to find. The only parts available are salvage parts.
If you do it yourself, Apple will refuse to service it forever, including a battery service.

If it stopped as soon as you upgraded it is more likely a software issue, so why would you risk ruining your phone and discovering that your hardware fix did not fix the problem?
Hi
Don't try a 3rd party repair make an appointment at Apple store For checking.
Or contact Support.apple.com
You cannot buy genuine parts & your touch I'd would no longer work.

While your phone may be out of warranty, Apple will still provide service (at a fee) as long as you don't open the phone yourself. Apple will probably tell you that the option they have for you is an out of warranty replacement unit, at about half the cost of a new phone. Now, you may be saying to yourself, "But I could fix it myself for so much less!". Before you go that route, consider some things. Do you have experience repairing very small electronics? If you make a mistake, are you prepared to accept the fact that your option may then be to buy an entire new phone and not at the discounted price. Are you also prepared for the fact that, should Apple release some sort of repair program for an issue with your phone, you will be ineligible for it?
I already spent many hours on phone with apple tech support and two days at apple store, trying to resolve the problem. they did offer new iphone 6 for $300 but with only 3 month warranty - which does not make sense at all. at that i point i decided to try fixing it myself and if push comes to shove, buy a new phone.
there is an active discussion thread on apple forums about the same issue.

Name any subject that involves Apple products (and some that do not). No matter what it is, there will be an active discussion thread on Apple forums about it. Which proves what?

Replacement units, which may be new or may be refurbished come with either the remainder or the original warranty or 90 days, which ever is longer. This is fairly standard in the industry.

The difference is that Apple will replace your phone out of warranty for 1/3 to 1/2 the price of a new phone. Even if it was user damage. No other manufacturer will do that.
Thanks for adding that!

Samsung does. $249 for a Note 8, which is about a quarter the new cost. However, you have to ship it to them and wait for the replacement, unless you can go to one of their two walk-in service centers in Bergen, NJ or Manhattan. They don’t have the equivalent of Apple Stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers.

However, those are supposed to be a huge nightmare for DIY. Unlike Apple, they glue their phones together.
Just wanted to clarify that that price was only for walk-in service. They may also have authorized repair companies they work with, but you'd have to call them.
Apple has an extremely integrated system where you can look up Apple Store or AASP appointments online.
If the OP really wants to know, look it up in a search engine. I know that every time I mention something about DIY for an iPhone it's on the edge of being deleted. But if you do it and can't do it right, there's no going back since Apple won't touch the hardware ever again.

should i just buy the tools from ifixit? i do not know what tools i will need for this type of repair.
The iPhone is not a user serviceable product and discussing modifications like this are against the terms of use you agreed to when you signed up for the forums.
