Using the Finder under MacOS High Sierra, I want to select and then rename several files. I select the "replace text" option. I would like to use a wildcard character. I guessed at "*" and "?". But didn't work. Is there a wildcard character for this function? Am I doing something wrong?

Apple supports wildcards in the Terminal where UNIX supports them. Finder is not a UNIX utility, and was not written to make believe that it is one.
