Can we still upgrade iTunes Match quality?

I am trying to upgrade the quality of old ripped CDs to 256. Is this even an option anymore?

Here is how:

  • Create a smart playlist with these attributes:
    • Bit rate < 256Kbps
    • Media kind is music
    • Any of the following are true
      • iCloud status is matched
      • iCloud status is purchased
  • The above creates a playlist of your upgradeable files
  • Select all these files (press Command-A)
  • Press option-delete to remove all these files from iTunes. Do not select the option to remove them from iCloud.
  • When iTunes asks, move all the files to the trash.
  • Keeping all the files selected, control-click any song and choose "Download". This download may take a long time depending on the number of files.

Hi,

You need to select the tracks then select ctrl click and you will see :

User uploaded file

Select remove download.

When you use Apple Music or iTunes match, using option delete does not give you the option to remove from the iCloud. You can only delete file from the library and this automatically deletes track from the cloud and sends the original to trash.

Option delete works differently when you do not use iCloud Music library. You get the option to Keep file or move to trash.
