address rejected by the server smtp.gmail.com.

Can anyone help me resolve this?

The sender address xxx@gmail.com was rejected by the server smtp.gmail.com.

One minute applemail is working fine, the next minute it won't send, two minutes later it will, then it won't.

What I don't understand is - if the connection doctor shows all email addresses as working (green light) and logged in, why this comes up all the time, asking me to select another server, when the server is evidently working ok.

Any help appreciated Thanks

Hey, davey17x.

After reviewing your post, it appears that you're having an intermittent issue with your Gmail account using the Mail application on your MacBook Pro on macOS High Sierra. I'm happy to help.

If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac -- Follow the steps provided in this article.

Mail Settings Lookup -- Make sure that the settings of your account are correct. Enter your full email address to obtain this information.

Set up Mail with your email accounts -- If the issue persists, remove the account, then re-add it again. Test the issue to see if it returns.

Let me know how that goes.

Take care!
