Outlook Mail Authentication Error & Two Factor Authentication

Hello,

I am unable to use Outlook as I repeatedly get a mail authentication error. I have attempted to resolve the issue several times following Microsoft's directions, but it does not work. I now understand it may be due to the fact I do not have two-fact authentication enabled on my Apple ID. However, I can't turn on the two-factor authentication, because the ID I am using is not my primary ID.

Is there a way to turn on two-factor authentication for a non-primary Apple ID?

Thanks,

lsb

Thanks, unfortunately, I don't have the option when in the Security section: instead, I have "Get Started" followed by

On your Mac with OS X El Capitan or later:

  1. Go to> System Preferences > iCloud
  2. Sign in if necessary, then click Account Details.
  3. Click Security.
  4. Click Turn On Two-Factor Authentication.

On my desktop, I can account this secondary account, but there's no place to turn on the two-factor authentication as it isn't my primary ID and I don't want it to be my primary ID.
