Export project file with source media
Main question:
Is there a way to export a project file (perhaps as an xml), packaged with the source media clips with Final Cut Pro X?
The problem:
Basically, I want to be able to hand off the project files to someone else, providing them with full editing capabilities (like being able to extend clips in the timeline). My understanding is that when I export as an xml, the original media clips are not included, so it is useless if I hand it off without the original media folders. I don't want to hand off the libraries in their entirety because I don't want to include the unused imported media clips. I have briefly looked into the "Consolidate" function, which will apparently pull in media clips from external sources. It's not clear to me if it will do this for all imported media clips or just for media clips that were used in projects.
My set-up:
(numbers are approximate and vary)
2 libraries
- 100 events/library
- 15 imported media clips/event - when I imported them, I selected "leave files in place", so their location is in a folder separate from the library
- 2 projects/event
- 5 media clips used in each project
Because of the large quantity of files and the large amount of space they take up, I'm hoping there is a simpler solution than duplicating the libraries and hand deleting irrelevant clips.
Thanks in advance!
