Personal requests not working on my HomePod

I have followed all of the instructions to set up Personal Requests on my HomePod, but I keep getting something to the effect of, the iOS device is not connected to the network. Anybody have this issue and figure out what is wrong?

HomePod, iOS 11.2.5
