Too many channels causing crash

I'm working on a song that admittedly has a LOT of channels. I've made plenty of songs with plenty of tracks so first off I don't understand how this one ended up w so many.

I'm trying to hear this one track with different instruments, but sometimes when I click a synthesizer, the app crashed after I get the following message:

Can’t open Patches / Sets

The patches or sets you are trying to import have too many channels to be imported into this document. Please try deleting some channels from the current document before loading this file.

Admittedly, I wouldn't know where to begin deleting channels as when I check they all appear to be in use. What can I do to avoid this because I essentially can't finish the song because every other instrument I try to check out causes the app to crash.

Hi StBlaize,

You can FREEZE channels, hopefully this will solve your issue.

Once you have your plug parameters set on a channel you can can freeze it, the plug in still works but you cant alter it, and you cant add more plug ins, though you can change the track volume/pan etc still, if you do need to open a plug in you can unfreeze and freeze the track again.

One way to freeze a track is to go to the top of Logic, choose TRACK, then choose configure track header, then check freeze, then check the frost mark on the track header.

Hope that helpsUser uploaded file

Yea drum kits usually open 2 or 3 buses for reverb and other room effects. On your tracks look below the Audio FX slots at the Send slots and see if there are any sends to channels you didn't manually create. Then you can isolate these channels and decide if you actually need them. If you have a multiple drum sets it'd be best to have a just a few buses with the effects that you can send all the drum kits too, then just control how much each set gets sent there. Let me know if you need screenshots or anything! Or if that was confusing haha
