How do I change the double tap to single?

No, Grizz4. That was for home button (Settings>General>Home...)
For different taps or double taps, it's a matter of imposed gestures.
Sometimes a screen protector (or a case) can interfere with touch screen...

When I read my messages on my iPhone 8 Plus I can’t just hit the back arrow anymore I have to double tap it to get back to all the messages. I remember during set up it had a 1,2,or 3 and it defaulted to 2. I wasn’t sure exactly what it was so just left it. Now I’m wondering if that is what they meant??
Can you be more specific, please? Single tap, instead of double tap, doing what? Using an app? trying to zoom a picture?
