Why my iphone is not updating to iOS 11?

I've been trying for weeks to update t iOS 11 on my iphone 6 plus. This is the first time an update is not able to happened. It keeps giving me an error message. Can any one help me? Or do I need to take my phone to an apple store for them to do it?
