A Lightning cable really only needs a 5V USB power supply. It only takes USB DC in, and that could be anything from a USB power adapter or a portable USB power supply running off of a battery. The large majority of USB port power adapters running from AC power operate at 100-240V A/C at 50/60 Hz. I can take my American power adapters and plug them directly into a bladed 220V outlet in China.
