It will probably be best to work with AppleCare in setting up a battery reservation. You can bring your iPhone into the Apple Retail Store, but they will place you in queue.

If you call AppleCare, you will get placed in the queue without having to go to the Apple Retail Store, thus saving you an additional trip.

I would waite a little bit as the next big apple update as you will be able to check your battery life status. This will let you know if you definitely need to replace your battery or not.

If you don’t see an appointment available online at your local Apple Store for a battery replacement (via support.apple.com), you need to call Apple support directly. They can reserve a battery for you, then the Apple Store will contact you when it arrives at their store. You have up to 7 days to go in any time and get it replaced. TIP: Go first thing in the morning for the shortest wait time to get your battery replaced or you’ll look at a 2+ hour wait later in the day. OPTION: Instead of the Apple Store, you can also book an appointment online at your nearest authorized Apple service provider.
