OneNote for Apple Watch Won't Allow Me to Create Notes

Hi,

I recently purchased an Apple Watch (Series 3) and have the OneNote app installed on it. I use OneNote (Office 360 subscription) on my Mac and iPhone 6s Plus to take notes, journal, etc. When I run the app on my watch, however, the purple, circular, plus button for creating notes does not appear as in the photos in the app description, only my recent notes from notebooks currently open in OneNote. Is this a common issue? Do I need to have Bluetooth headphones connected to record a note? What can I do to resolve this issue? My phone, watch, and app are all updated to the latest version. Thank you.

Apple Watch Series 3, watchOS 4.2.3
