Scroll down to the disabled part

If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

If you see the Connect to iTunes screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

What happens when you connect your iPad? Could the battery be dead? If so it can take up to half an hour after its plugged into charge for it to show some sign of life.

Or does your computer just not see your ipad?
