Loops included with Garageband 10.2

I have recently bought an iMac and am exploring Garageband 10.2. While looking at some training videos I have realised that the Apple Loops included with Garageband 10.2 are different to previous versions and many interesting loops appear to have been removed, for example the “Acoustic Picking“ loops.

Is it the case that the latest version of Garageband has lost a lot of loops that were included with previous versions?

Is there a definitive list of the loops that were included in each version?

Is there any way to get hold of these missing loops and will they still work with Garageband 10.2?

Thanks

Andy

You should be able to get all of the Jam Pack loops and the older GarageBand loops by installing MainStage 3 and downloading all legacy loops. Open the MainStage > Sound Library Manager to download all missing sounds.

Then you need just to rebuild the Loop Index in GarageBand.

I do not know of any such list. The loops that come with Garageband 10 are very different from the the loops in the older GarageBand versions. I left Garageband '11 installed, when I upgraded to GarageBand 10 and this way I can still use the older loops from GarageBand '11 and the Jam Packs as wellOn big difference between the loops from earlier GarageBand versions and GarageBand 10 is, that GarageBand 10 does not offer any software instrument loops, only real instrument loops. I prefer the older software instrument loops. They need less storage, and it it easy to edit them and modify them. and most importantly, we can see in the track editor, which chord sequence will be played by the loops. With GarageBand 10's loops, we have to listen to the loops to get an idea, what the loop will be playing and we cannot modify the loops.

When I am looking at my own library, I can find "Acoustic Picking" loops in two places - as part of the Jam Pack 1 and in the folder with legacy loops from GarageBand '11. All "Acoustic Picking" loops are having a creation date 2009.
