OS X El Capitan

Hi, running OS X El Capitan v 10.11.6 & was running fine until yesterday when it has frozen & won’t allow me to do anything. Asking for keychain Password but the password I’m typing isn’t working. Can’t get into keychain manager to change, as crashes as soon as I try to make changes. Also can’t update to newest version of OS as it freezes when I type in my password. Unable to open Safari, Mail etc. Would love to hear if anyone has tips for fixing as there is a 7-10 day wait at local computer store!!! Thank you

Try rebooting the computer while holding the shift key to boot into safe mode. Test the operation in safe mode and see if the problem persists.
