Anyone know when Apple is going to start native support for .flac encoded audio files in QT/ITunes? I know Apple has their own lossless format, but don't they WANT people to use their software? It would be nice to be able to use Front Row to play my music library. Has anyone heard if/when this will ever be possible?
Just curious why you think that way... I guess inside I sort of had this hope that maybe some of the product managers at Apple might read these forums to at least get some sort of idea about what concerns the users (the vocal ones, at least) had about their software. I have read elsewhere somewhere on this site someone saying that they had heard that Apple had begun work on this. Supposedly, at one point in the past, ITunes did support flac.
I have read 000's of posts here and this is post #1 for FLAC so even if they did read it you are in a bit of a minority. People complain at times why they don't support MPEG 1/2 or the ancient MS codecs, and the answer is simple, they don't want to and they don't view QT as a jack of all trades product.
If you go to that site, the author lists the latest changes that they made to their software and then they list a 'To Do' list. The last item in that to do list...
