How do I unlock my IPad 3.

How do I unlock my IPad 3. It wasn't coming on for a long time. Prior to this, It has not backed up for about 2 years or more. I wiped all the information. The Activation code says ...@yahoo.co.uk ( my email address) can not be used to unlock this Ipad. I'm able to sign in to icloud with the same email The same email was used to sep up the iPad in october, 2102. I forgot the password and I have reset my password. What do I do to unlock the activation code?

Unlocking ipad Hello, My girlfriend son recently locked up the ipad. She gave to me to unlock. After lengthy process of recovering apple id, password. Then resetting the password through apple id. It was lengthy because this was her ex-husband's mother's ipad. Once I was able to re-set the apple id password. The activation lock on itunes and ipad said that apple id was not able to unlock the ipad. Any reccomendations? I have the apple id, along with updated password so I should be able to recover the ipad
